Dorothy D. Close, 103, of Honey Brook, died on Friday, May 3, 2013, at Tel Hai Nursing Center in Honey Brook. She was the wife of the late Louis H. Close, who was the first Chief of Police for West Goshen Township.
Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late William Delaney and the late Eva Cloud Delaney.
Dorothy was a teacher for the West Chester Area School District and taught for the district in West Goshen Township. She retired after 36 years of service. She was a graduate of Roxborough High School, Philadelphia Normal School, West Chester University and attended the University of Pennsylvania.
Coming from West Goshen Township, Dorothy had lived in Honey Brook since 1988. Dorothy was a member of the National Education Association, PA State Education Association and the PA Association of School Retirees.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her sister, Florence Remington.
Relatives and friends are invited to her Funeral Service, 2:30 p.m. on Friday, May 10, 2013 at the DellaVecchia, Reilly, Smith & Boyd Funeral Home, Inc., 410 North Church Street, West Chester, PA 19380, 610-696-1181, www.dellafh.com. Visitation will be begin at 1:30 p.m.
Interment will held at Oakland Cemetery in West Chester.
