Andrew was born, lived in, and died in Pennsylvania. In 1850, he is listed in the US census as living with his parents in New Hanover and working as a carpenter. By 1860, he is living with his parents and still in New Hanover. His father is listed as a cabinet maker. In 1863, he is drafted into Union Army for the civil war and is listed as single and a cabinetmaker. In 1870, he is living in New Hanover and late in that year marries Mary Anna Keeley. By 1880, he is listed as a cabinetmaker and living with his wife and children in Limerick, Montgomery county, PA. He is later purported to be a farmer and dies about age 70.

He and Mary Anna had nine children confirmed by records. By 1900, only six have survived. Elizabeth & John died in infancy. Jacob died as a child. Herbert, Ella, Franklin, Lydia, Edna Anna, and Linford all are confirmed by records as their adult children who all went on to marry and have families of their own.

A few family trees on Ancestry attribute up to two more children to Andrew & Mary but they are actually children & grandchildren of Herbert.
