Thomas Kyle Watkins, 63 years old, met sudden death Monday about 5 p.m. at the Mercer County Stock Yards, where he had been a caretaker and watchman for about ten years. He was highly esteemed by the company which employed him and was well liked by all who knew him. He was a native of Harrodsburg, the son of John S. and Mary Plummer Watkins and was born May 9, 1876. He is survived by two sisters, Mrs. William McGee, Harrodsburg; Miss Mack Watkins, and a brother, Harry Watkins, both of Lexington. Mrs. Calvin Shewmaker this city, is a niece, and he has other nieces and nephews in Lexington.
The funeral was at 4 p.m. Tuesday afternoon at the Bruner and Sims Funeral Home and the burial in Spring Hill cemetery, with the Rev. T. Hassell Bowen conducting the rites. The pall bearers were J. D. Baxter Sr., Bud Rainey, George Moore, J. D. Baxter, Jr., Jack Sparrow and Alvin Veatch.
