AUGUSTA, Ga. - Gertrud Amrhein Abbey, 67, entered into rest January 11, 2003, at Eisenhower Army Medical Center. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, January 15, 2003, at Fleming Baptist Church, Rev. Billy Adkins officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Thomas W. Blount, James A. Abbey II, Edward T. Abbey Jr., Donald Amrhein, Jonathan G. Amrhein and Roland R. Abbey. Mrs. Abbey is survived by her husband, James A. Abbey; one daughter, Patricia B. Lowe; three sons, Donald Amrhein, Edward T. Abbey Sr., and Roland R. Abbey. Additional survivors are three sisters, Elizabeth Basquez, Gitta Couey, Magdelina Schimmelpenning; 18 grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Ann Motocha. Mrs. Abbey was preceded in death by a son Patrick Amrhein. Mrs. Abbey was born in Aschaffenburg, Germany and was an active member of Fleming Baptist Church and also a member of the Faternal Order of Eagles, Post 1197.
