Writer. He was born in Iria Flavia (Galicia, Spain) and died in Madrid. He won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1989. He is best remembered for his works "La Familia de Pascual Duarte," "La Colmena," "San Camilo 36," "Mazurca para dos Muertos," "Viaje a la Alcarria," "Cristo vs. Arizona" and "Madera de Boj." He also recieved the Príncipe de Asturias Award and was a member of the Royal Spanish Academy (RAE) from 1957.
