Mrs. Nila Beatrice Jewell Brown Absher, age 84, of 243 Davis Lane, Raven, Virginia, passed away Friday, May 13, 2005 at a Claypool Hill, Virginia retirement home following a lengthy illness.
She was born in Coldan, Virginia and was the daughter of the late Albert and Mary Young Jewell, both Tazewell County natives.
She had made her home in the Richlands area all of her life and was a member of the Richlands Tabernacle for over 50 years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Clayton Brown; second husband, Roy Absher; foster daughter, Bobbie Ruth White; three sisters, Cloah Colley, Janie McDaniels, and Jean McGlothlin; infant brother, Earl Jewell; one step son, Freeman Absher.

Four Foster Grandchildren: Donna Bucklen, Kyle White, Dale White, and Emory White
Eighteen Step Grandchildren and Twenty-two Step Great Grandchildren also survive
Funeral services for Mrs. Nila Beatrice Brown Absher will be conducted Monday, May 16, 2005 at 11:00AM at the Richlands Tabernacle in Richlands, Virginia with the Rev. Ralph Horton and Rev. Phillip Horton officiating. Entombment will follow at the Greenhills Memory Gardens Mausoleum at Claypool Hill, Virginia. Friends and relatives will serve as pallbearers. Men of the Richlands Tabernacle will serve as Honorary Pallbearers. Friends may call after 5:00PM Sunday evening at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands, Virginia and one hour prior to the funeral on Monday at the church
