Ella was the daughter of Martin Nissley Risser and Maria Brubaker Horst.

She was married to Harry Brubaker Horst. His parents wanted him to marry a good Mennonite girl.

She was the mother of three daughters and two sons (all linked to this memorial).

That Martin was the son of Deacon John Snyder Nissley (1750-1819) and Gertrude Scherer/Shearer (1754-1792). Deacon Nissley (Neesley) was enrolled as a Private, 4th Class, Captain Abraham Scott's 7th Company, 3rd Battalion, Lancaster County Militia, according to the evidence of a Muster Roll dated September 1, 1777. He was married twice.

Deacon John's parents were Martin Nissley (1721-1783) and Anna/Susanna Snyder (1723-1756). His wife Elizabeth's parents were Ulrich Scherer and Barbara Stauffer.

Elizabeth's parents were Christian Hershey and Esther Egli (someone created memorials even though no one knows where they are buried). Christian's parents were Bishop Christian Hersche (abt 1670 Switzerland- July 1720 Lanc Co PA) and Adelheit 'Oade' Scholli (abt 1672 Switzerland- May 1729 Lanc Co PA). Esther's father was Benedict Scholi who lived at Friedelsheim in 1672 and 1692 with Christian Hirschi's father. The family immigrated in 1717 with Christian the son coming in 1739 on the 'Robert & Alice'.

The Pennsylvania Mennonite Hersheys were not from Appenzell, Switzerland as some on here have indicated. They were from Bern.
