BRADY - Robert Doyle Ables, 90, of Brady passed away Wednesday, April 27, 2005, in San Angelo. He was born Dec. 19, 1914, in Rochelle, Texas, to Robert Rollie Ables and Maggie Pearl Williamson Ables. Robert married Mayme Ethel Ayers on Sept. 30, 1950, in Brady. A World War II U.S. Navy veteran, he was a lifelong resident of the area. He was a professional painter in the Brady area for 50 years and coached Little League baseball for several years. Visitation will be 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 30, at Leatherwood Memorial Chapels. Graveside service with military honors will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, April 30, in Rochelle Cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Mayme Ables of Brady; sons Jerry Doyle Ables of Carrollton and Ronny Ables of Austin; daughter Jan Gregory and husband Gary of San Angelo; brother Elmer Vernon Ables and wife Louise of New Ulm; sisters Louise Penn and husband Herbert of Irving and Winnie Jenkins of Mesquite; granddaughter Kelly Ables of Carrollton; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother. Memorials may be made to The Salvation Army or the American Parkinson's Disease Association.
