Funeral services for Arley Brown, age 43 [actually 47] of 701 E. 7th Street, Lockport, who died Saturday night at Silver Cross Hospital as a result of injuries suffered Friday in an automobile accident near Manhattan, will be Tuesday afternoon.
The funeral will be at 1:30 o'clock from the Goodale Funeral Home, Lockport, to the First Congregational Church at 2:00 p.m. The Rev. George Moulthrop will officiate. Burial will be in the Lockport City Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home this evening from 7 to 10 p.m.
Mr. Brown was the second victim to die as a result of the crash at the Manhattan-Monee and Cedar Roads. Killed also was Mrs. Velma Miller, 45, of Route 1, Peotone. Her husband and Mr. Brown's wife were injured in the accident. Mrs. Brown, a home economics instructor at the Joliet Township High School, is in Silver Cross Hospital.
Mr. Brown was born at Bedford, Indiana, March 20, 1915. A construction worker, he lived in Kankakee and Joliet before moving to Lockport six years ago. He was a veteran of World War II and a member of the John Olson Post, American Legion at Lockport.
Besides his widow, the former Leona Echternach, he is survived by his mother, Mrs. Mathilda [sic.] Brown of Bedford; three sisters, Mrs. Pearl Stancombe, Mrs. Vena Bridwell and Mrs. Edna Hanners, all of Bedford; and four brothers, Harley, his twin, Fred and Wilford, all of Bedford and Frank of Medora, Indiana; and numerous nieces and nephews.
