She was born on July 30, 1924 in Scioto Furnace to Herbert and Genevieve (Baker) Bouts. A 1942 graduate of South Webster High School, she married Morgan Ashworth in 1943 and was married to him for 62 years until his death in 2006. Annette worked for Selby Shoes from 1941 - 46 and also worked in Columbus which is where she met her husband. She was a long-time and devoted member of the Union Freewill Baptist Church in Wheelersburg. Annette had a green thumb and greatly enjoyed gardening. She sewed, quilted, was a great cook and especially loved spending time with her family and friends.
Annette is survived by one son, John (Barbara) Ashworth of McDermott; one daughter, Ede Jane Ashworth of Wellsburg, West Virginia; five grandsons, Chris Ashworth, of Coral Springs, Florida, Jason Ashworth of Lucasville, Justin (Jerilyn) Ashworth of West Palm Gardens, Florida, Jeremy (Jamie) Rockwell of South Webster, and Nicholas (Heidi) Rockwell of Otway; five great-grandchildren, Kahler, Elizabeth, Lily, Lucy, and Loralie Rockwell; two sisters-in-law, Janis Bouts and Wilma Bouts; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Glenn Bouts and Leland Bouts.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at Union Freewill Baptist Church in Wheelersburg with Pastor Chris Oiler officiating. Interment will follow at South Webster Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 5 - 7 p.m. and one hour prior to the funeral at the church.
