Son of William Garrison born in 1769 in Henry County Va and who died in 1853 in Buncombe County NC.... and Elizabeth Dickerson born in 1772 in VA and who died in 1840 in Buncombe County NC.
Married Melinda Minerva Wilson on July 7, 1829 and they had 8 children:
1.William J Mitchell Garrison b. 1831 who married Elizabeth Myra (Miriah)Ann Roberts
2. Mary Elizabeth Garrison - b. 1833 believe to never have married - added Oct 2014 per note below
3. Ora C. Garrison b. 1834 who married John Weaver
4. John W Garrison b. 1835 who married Martha Anderson
5. Harriet M Garrison b. 1836
6. Margaret E Garrison b. 1838
7. Thomas Marion Garrison b. 1842 who married Louisa R Chambers
8. Robert M Garrison born in 1844 and who died at the Battle of Gettysburg. Served in CSA 25th.
It is unclear to me as to whether his father (William Garrison buried in Garrison Cemetery) was also named William Claiborne Garrison. I have only seen his father referred to as William Garrison or Captain William Garrison as he served in the war of 1812.

I see on the Federal Census form for 1870 both William and his wife Malinda in Reems Creek. I also see that Malinda (you show her buried in Garrison Cemetery FAG#117478183) is shown on the 1880 census form living with her son Thomas and his family in Reems Creek. I also note that one of their children is not listed with the others on the FAG memorial pages....Mary Elizabeth Garrison. From what I have found it looks like she was born in May 1833. I find her unmarried and living with her brother Thomas on the census forms for 1890, 1900, and 1910.....
