Iris Willowpean Pennington, 89, died Friday. A native of Wilson County she was daughter to the late Eddie & Minnie Teddar Evans. She was a member of Creech's Primitive Baptist Church, and a true faithful servant of the Lord. Her family were her life, her joy, and her heart. Her husband of 57 years, Wiley Thomas Pennington, preceded her in death, as well as several siblings.
Funeral service 11 am, Monday, Strickland Funeral Home Chapel, Wendell. Burial, Gethsemane Memorial Gardens, Zebulon.
She is survived by her children; Walter T. Pennington (Connie) of Raleigh, Ricky Pennington (Judy) of Wendell, Kay Pulley (Robert) & Sandra Pittman (Ray) both of Zebulon, siblings; Roland Evans (Virginia) of Wilson, Rudolph Evans (Hazel) of Selma, Margie Johnson of Hagerstown, Md., Joyce Lamm of Wilson, 8 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, many nieces & nephews, and sisters-in-law; Bessie Gray DeKyser, Julia Pennington, & Emma Pennington.
