Dr. William Sterling "Bill" McClung, age 79, passed away on Friday, July 30, 2004. He was born September 11, 1934, to Robert and Nannie Bounds McClung in Fort Worth. After graduating from Poly High School, he joined the U.S. Army and served in England, France, and Germany for three years. After returning home he married Martha Tolbert in 1946, graduated from Texas Wesleyan College and received his Masters and Doctorate from North Texas State University.

The McClungs moved to Weatherford in 1951 to teach at Weatherford College and he served 16 years as Dean-Registrar, coached the ladies basketball team and men's golf team. In 1967 Bill became Chairman of the Division of Business of the South Campus of Tarrant County Junior College and remained in the position for 24 years until retirement.

He was a very active member of First Baptist Church, church treasurer for nearly 40 years, and a long time adult Sunday school teacher and choir member. He served 3 terms as president of the Parker County Retired Teacher's Association and gave the "Chuckle of the Day" for eight years. He participated in activities of the Senior Center, delivering Meals on Wheels, and was a member of Sensational Singers, and the Parker County Wood Chippers.

Bill was preceded in death by his father and mother, Robert and Nannie McClung, a brother, Bob McClung, and a nephew, Bobby McClung.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Martha; son, Bill McClung and wife, Terri of San Antonio; daughter, Melinda Jobe of Denton; grandchildren, Aaron McClung of Dayton, OH, Jill Perry and husband, Sam of Augusta, GA, Mandy Gerrard and husband Clay of New Bransfels, Jim Jobe of College Station, and Jess Jobe of Denton, brother, Cecil McClung of Panama City, Fla.; many cousins nieces and nephews and a host of friends. He will be missed.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 3, 2004 at the First Baptist Church with Rev. David Jobe and Rev. Bob Jackson officiating with burial in the City Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at White's Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Meals on Wheels, 1225 Holland Lake Drive, Weatherford, Texas 76086
