Silas D. Wright, 91, of the Plaisted Road in Jay, died late Friday morning, Feb. 21, at the Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington. He was born May 26, 1911 in Jay, a son of Edward and Sarah Wright. He attended Jay schools, graduating from Jay High School. He married Arlene M. Bryant in Wilton on Dec. 27, 1935. She died Jan. 7, 1991. Mr. Wright worked at the Wilton Woolen Mill for several years, retiring in 1941. He was also a farmer his entire life, working at the family dairy farm every day. He enjoyed his work with his dairy cows very much but had a true passion for music and playing the trombone. He was a member of the Wright's Orchestra for 60 years in which he played with his family and friends. He was also a member of the Old Crow Band. He was predeceased by three brothers, Dennis, Vinton, and Clarence Wright; and three sisters, Jeanette Baker, Donny Dunn, and Ruth Francis.

WRIGHT - died at Farmington, Friday, Feb. 21, 2003, Silas D. Wright, 91, of Jay. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, at the Wiles Funeral Home, 308 Franklin Rd., Jay with the Rev. Eva Thompson officiating. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home, from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday. Interment will be at the Birchland Cemetery in North Jay. Intombment at the funeral home.
