CARL LEE STANFORD


STANFORD, CARL LEE Born October 3, 1952 to the late Olivia and Will P. Stanford, passed away on March 27, 2013.

He attended Jackson S. Abrams High School and Lawson State Community College in Bessemer, Alabama.

He joined the Air Force immediately after graduating High School. It was at Craig Air Force Base that he met, married and remained devoted to his wife Eula Gary for 37 years.

After leaving the service, he went to work for BellSouth and remained there until he became disabled.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Iris Washington.

He leaves to mourn a loving a mother-in-law, Annie Gary of Selma; a loving and supportive wife, Eula Stanford of Chelsea; three sons, Bakari Stanford Sr. (Patricia) of Chelsea, Becktimba Stanford (Kelly) of Center Point and Ebo Stanford (Okiemia) of Atlanta, Georgia; one daughter, Tabatha McDonald (Kevin) of West Palm Beach, Florida; five brothers, Herman Stanford of Bessemer, James Stanford (Iris) of Hueytown, Joe Minor (Beverly) of Birmingham, Will P. Stanford of Montgomery and Arthur Stanford (Mary Alice) of Denver, Colorado; three brother-in-laws, Robert Gary of Selma, Richard Gary (Barbara) of Memphis, Tennessee and Roderick Gary (Cassandra) of Japan; five sister-in-laws, Julia Burton (Claude) of Los Angles, California, Carolyn Gary, Shirley Wade, Rochelle Smith of Selma and Theresa (Marcus) of Detroit, Michigan; nine grandchildren, Bakari Jr.,Aaliyah and Hakeem, LaDarius "Little D", Keara, Demarius and Jamie, Shalesia and Shakayla and a host of niece, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be Saturday, April 6, 2013 at 2:00 PM at the Roosevelt City Church of Christ.

Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Pastor Jack Beamer will be officiating. McCalla Memorial Funeral Home will be directing.
