Parents: T.A. Land and Ann Elizabeth Baxter. Both parents were born in Currituck Co., NC as per her death certificate.

Note the different spelling of her name on the DC. Her husband, George W. Brinson, was the informant for the data in the DC. Another genealogy record found on the Internet shows her father as being "James Madison Land".

A 1891 Craven Co. Superior Court Probate documents states that "S.G. Brinson" is entitled to share in the proceeds of the estate of James M. Land; the doc also lists the surviving sons of James Madison Land: S.K. Land, E.B. Land, & Thomas A. Land.

Therefore, it is a certainty that James Madison Land was Sophronia's father. Thomas Ann Land was her brother. Her husband probably just got confused. Since Thomas m. Margaret Ellen Brinson, it is assumed that Ann Elizabeth Baxter was indeed Sophronia's mother.

Further, her marriage record also states that James M. Land and Annie E. Land were her parents.

1850 U.S. Census for Courthouse Dist., Currituck Co., North Carolina (20 Aug.):
James M Land M 36 North Carolina; farmer
Ann Land F 27 North Carolina
Kenneth Land M 9 North Carolina
Thos Land M 6 North Carolina; d. before 1854.
Jeremiah Land M 4 North Carolina

Jeremiah Davis M 20 North Carolina

Another son was born in 1854, Thomas Ann Land, Sophronia's brother.
