Son of Delia Chapman Davis and the late Edgar E. Davis, he was educated in the former Taylor High School. He formerly worked for the former Superior Door and Sash Co., Scranton, as a spot welder and was a member of the company's union. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Taylor.
An Avid fisherman and hunter, he was a loving father, grandfather, son, brother and uncle.
Also surviving are a son, Edgar Jr., Clarks Summit, a daughter, Melinda Brayer, Scranton; a brother, Robert, Taylor; two sisters, Norma Jean Henderson, Kingston, and Barbara Ann Tucker, Moosic; a grandson, John Brayer Jr., aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
