Sr Peter Marie Buttacavoli died at Skyview Health Care Center, Croton-on-Hudson, NY on Friday, June 1, 2012. Sister was a member of the Franciscan Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart whose motherhouse is in Peekskill. She entered the convent in 1950 and was professed in 1952.
Sister is survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Tina and Dr. Fred Petrone of Cherry Hill, NJ and several cousins. Sister ministered at Sacred Heart School in Highland Falls, NY in 1952; at Assumption School in Peekskill, NY in 1953 and at Our Lady of Loretto School in Cold Spring, NY from 1954 to 1958; and again at Assumption from 1958 to 1960. Her next assignments brought her to Pennsylvania and then back to Mt. St. Francis as a Staff member in 1979.
Visiting hours will be at Mt. St. Francis, 250 South St. Peekskill, NY on Monday, June 4th from 2 to 7 followed by a Wake service at 7 PM. The Mass of Christian Burial will be on Tuesday, June 5th, 2012 at 10:30 AM followed by interment in the Sisters' cemetery in Peekskill.
