Ann Louise was the daughter of Walter Levi Hartz and Alice A. Strohecker. Her brother was Dr. George Richard Hartz (1931-1984) and her sister was Susan Hartz (about 1938-?).

She married John 'Jack' F. Laclair, Jr. He was an officer in the United States Navy and later the naval reserve.
