Mary Brennen was the daughter of Thomas Brennen, Sr. of Ireland and Elizabeth Casey of Scotland. She married Walter T. Adams, Sr. in 1899 in Hays (Pittsburgh), Pa. They had eight children and adopted two more. She was born in Scotland near Glasgow and immigrated to America in 1881 with her parents and sister Margaret. Mary and Walter took in Anna May Cochran and her brother William Cochran, Jr. in 1918, after their Mom, Mary's sister Elizabeth, died of the Spanish Flu.Wife of Walter T. Adams, last mayor of Hays, PA before town was taken into Pittsburgh, PA.

She married Walter T. Adams and they became the parents of eight children and two adopted children. Children: Frank, John, Tom, Walter, Jr., Margaret, Mary, Rose, Elizabeth; adopted children: Anna May Cochran and her brother, William John Cochran.

She and her husband lived at 486 Ashby St., Hays, PA, suburb of Pittsburgh, PA. The house was torn down in the 1950s to make way for Route 885.
