Lagatha was born the daughter of Garrett and Alice Dunn DeHoet. She began her schooling in MN and upon moving back to Iowa, she attended schools in Warren and Marion counties.
On May 21,1932, Lagatha married Orion Jasper Higbee in Eagleville, MO and to this union three daughters were born. She was also a member of the Indianola Christian Union Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Orion of 67 years and missed him dearly.
She is survived by her three daughters and their husbands. Beverly (Bill) Dickerson of Indianola, Barbara (Tom) Kern of Monticello, IL and Bonnie (Bob) Miner of Indianola; Eight grandchildren, DeeAnn and (Tim) Lantz of Fairfield, Shelly and (Boyd) Wakeman of Indianola, Cristy and (Rick) Hamblin of Cedar Rapids, Chuck and (Gwen) Kern of Clinton, IL, Laura and (John) Gillespie of Bement, IL, John and (Julie) Kern of Venice, FL, Becky Miner of Des Moines and Beth Dittmer of Indianola; 17 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and friends. Lagatha was so looking forward to her first great-great grandchild to be born in June.
