Husband of Jane Bowles, daughter of Sir Thomas Bowles of Penho, Wales. They had fours sons and four daughters; Giles, Sir Walter, Leonard, Anthony, Katherine (wife of Sir William Gresley), Mary (wife of Sir Simon Harcourt), Anne and Frances (wife of sir Robert Needham).

Sir Edwards was granted the manor of Ashstead Surrey in Newdigate in exchange for other lands. He built a mansion at Tixall, Staffordshire in 1555.
