Dorothy M. Claerbout, 79, a resident at Sheboygan Progressive Care Center since December, and formerly of Oostburg, died on Friday afternoon, March 25, 2005 at St. Nicholas Hospital in Sheboygan.
Dorothy was born on Nov. 12, 1925 in the Town of Holland, the daughter of the late John D. and Delia (Hesselink) Neerhof. She attended North Cedar Grove School. On August 16, 1975 Dorothy married the late Henry Claerbout in Cedar Grove. He preceded her in death on Jan. 29, 1987. Dorothy worked at the Mayline Co. in Sheboygan for 36 years prior to her retirement in 1987.
Dorothy was a member of Calvary Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Cedar Grove and was a member of the Mission Circle. She was also a volunteer at the Good As New shop, the Oostburg Christian School Circle and attended Senior Citizens. Dorothy enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening.
She is survived by her son, Richard (Nannette) Neerhof of Oostburg; four grandchildren, Michelle (Steve) Robinson, Tabitha Van Sluys, Nathan (fiance April Ratzlaff) Neerhof and Timothy Neerhof; one great-granddaughter, Taliah Van Sluys; one step-daughter, Pearl Janisse of Greendale Health Center; one step-son John (Joyce) Nyenhuis of Oostburg; one step-daughter-in-law, Bernice Claerbout of Sheboygan. She is also survived by numerous step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Jeannette (Lincoln) Davies of Oostburg.; and special friends, Bob and Mary DeSmith of Oostburg.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, one step-son, Roger Claerbout, one sister and one brother.
