FLAG POND - E. A. Metcalf, 93, died at 9:20 p.m. yesterday at the home of a son, Carter, Route 3, Mars Hill, North Carolina. He had been in poor health for 10 years.
Mr. Metcalf was a member of Little Creek Baptist Church, Mars Hill, for 70 years. He was a retired merchant of Flag Pond, having lived here 46 years. He was the son of the late Henry and Sarah Ann Metcalf.
Survivors in addition to his son are his widow, Mrs. Sarah Proffitt Metcalf; three daughters, Mrs. Eunice Rice and Mrs. Ethel Burnette, Mars Hill, and Mrs. Zelda Bowden, Summerfield, North Carolina; one brother, Gaither, Flag Pond; one sister, Mrs. Jobie Ramsey, Route 2, Erwin, Tennessee.
