SILVER SPRING, Md. – Annette Elsa Swanson, 78, died March 15 after a seven-year battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy.

Swanson was born Aug. 15, 1934 to Ewalt and Nettie Hageman in Wahoo. She was raised on her parent’s farm at Ithaca. She graduated from Wahoo High School and Lincoln School of Commerce. She held several jobs throughout her lifetime including, a comptometer operator, cafeteria worker, accounting clerk, hotel reservationist, real estate agent, administration assistant and office manager. She married Mauritz D. Swanson on May 2, 1954 in Ithaca. The couple moved to Maryland in 1967. She was a member of the Colesville Presbyterian Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Carol Negley; and brother, Ewalt Hageman Jr. She is survived by her husband; children and spouses, Gregory and Carolyn Swanson of Knoxville, Tenn., Michelle Swanson of Greenbelt, Md., and Mitchell and Meridith Swanson of Wilmington, N.C.; five grandchildren, Kimon, Colter, Reilly, Kristopher and Jessica. A memorial service will be held March 30 at the Hines-Rinaldi Funeral Home, 11800 New Hampshire Avenue in Silver Springs, Md. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to CurePSP at www.psp.org.
