Distinguished lawyer, bnker, citizen dies in Morganfield age 95
Former partner of Judge Spalding and HX Morton
Defeated in Congress by McKenzie
Aged wife survives in weakened physical and mental condition

Mr. Cromwell Adair died Sunday at midnight aged ninety five and a half years. Morganfield and Union County have lost a representative citizen. At one time Mr. Adair's name was, in the eastern portion of Kentucky, almost synonymous with Union County. Born July 18, 1831, his keen and versatile mind lead him to the front in legal, political and social circles. Only a very few years ago he gave up study. A mind clear beyond the usual at such advanced age, coupled with the long habit of reading along many lines, kept him abreast of the times until past ninety. During the recent World War he was abosorbed in the turn of events and was surrounded in his study with maps, charts, magazines and papers, yet he welcomed visitors eagerly and with perfect ease adjusted his mind to other topics.

He traveled extensively both in America and Europe and a well stored mind gave him intercourse with younger people for longer than the average.

Mr. Adair was educated at Center College, Danville KY and took his law course at Transylvania Lexington under Dean Patterson. He was admitted to the Union County Bar in 1855, continuing until 1898. His last appearance as an attorney being the well known case of John R. Thompson in March 1898.

He was county Attorney, associated at one time with Judge IA Spalding and later wit Honorable LX Morton. He was a candidate for office many times being State Senator, Rrepresentative and defeated for Congress by the famous Quinine Jim McKenzie. His long career as man. lawyer and banker was marked by straighforward dealing.

Mr. Adair was married Nov. 18th 1860 to Katherine Cromwell, doughter of a cousin of his mother.
