Army Spc. Pena-Suarez was assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 64th Armor Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, Georgia. While training in Kuwait, Pena was shot and killed in what military officials are calling an accident (under investigation). Pedro entered active duty in Miami, Florida in October 1996 and had been at Fort Stewart and assigned to his current unit since last December. He was assigned to his unit as a truck driver and was in Kuwait with his unit training with other U.S. and coalition forces.
