In 1843 , John Warren was a student in School district 14. He would have been about 7. In 1847, John Warren was a student in School district 7. He would have been about 11. In 1850, John Warren was living in the household of Tempy Drew. He was 16 years of age. Actually, he was in his 16th year, but he was actually 15. In 1860, he was an overseer for C. Bass. He enlisted in the Scotland Neck Mounted Rifles in 1861. In 1864, he was seriously wounded in the Civil War. After the war,he was farm manager for his father-in-law, Joseph Higgs.
