He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to all. He was famous for lending a helping a hand. He was a dedicated member of Mebane Wesleyan Church, and was a volunteer fireman in the city of Mebane for 28 years. He was retired from UNC Chapel Hill as an HVAC Mechanic.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Janice P. O'Briant, of the home; son, Gerald O'Briant and wife Lisa, of Mebane; daughter, Andrea Stovall and husband Heath, of Haw River; grandchildren, Daniel Howell, Nicholas O'Briant and Savanna Stovall.
Bennie was predeceased by his parents, George and Hattie O'Briant.
The family will receive friends on Monday, Nov. 5, from 6 to 8 p.m. at McClure Funeral Service in Mebane.
A funeral service will be conducted on Tuesday, Nov. 6, at 2 p.m. at Mebane Wesleyan Church with the Rev. Rodney Purcell presiding over the service. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
