Son of Bob Whitehead and Mary Sills. His first wife was Mary Louise "Mollie" Staton, widow of James Burton House. They were married on April 16, 1890 in Halifax County, NC. After her death, he married Lydia E. Wommack, whose first husband was John Henry Baker. They were married on August 15, 1928 in Edgecombe County, NC. Lawrence Elbert Whitehead was buried on November 7, 1948 in the Episcopal Cemetery, Scotland Neck, NC. Mr. R. I. Whitehead of Hobgood, NC was the informant.
