Dr Henry Clay Martin was born in Spencer, Tn July 9,1853. In 1877 he married Miss Lou Shields of Smithville who died July 8, 1911. On July 28, 1912 he married Mrs Hettie Sims of Cookeville.,
He is a graduate of Vanderbilt Medical School and has practiced in Cookeville since 1884. He is the son of Dr John Martin, a pioneer physician of this section.
He is a member of the Church of Christ, a Mason, an Odd Fellow, a Modern Woodman and a democrat.
