James L. Schnellbecker, age 79, of Fowler, IL, died on Friday, January 25, 2013 at 11:20 a.m. in Blessing Hospital.

He was born January 31, 1933 in Payson, Illinois the son of Harvey G. and Agnes Brocksieck Schnellbecker. On June 20, 1954 he married Norrita White in Quincy. She preceded him in death on July 15, 2003.

James proudly served in the United States Army in Korea from 1950 until 1956. He spent over 26 years as a truck driver for city delivery. James was a member of American Legion Post #37 and in his spare time he enjoyed watching stock car races.

Survivors include two children, Leonard Schnellbecker of Fowler, IL, and Deb (Dickie) Lawson of West Point, IL; a granddaughter, Heather Crouch of Quincy; a great-grandson, Marcus Gilbert of Quincy; three step-grandchildren; and three step-great grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents.

Services: 10:00 am Monday (January 28, 2013) at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home with the Rev. Ronald F. Graham officiating.

Visitation: 9:00 – 10:00 am Monday (January 28, 2013) at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home.

Burial: Paloma Cemetery.
