Dr. Jules E. Benbenek, 91, of Whiting, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013, at Whiting Healthcare Center. Born in Trenton, he lived in Lawrenceville before moving to Whiting 30 years ago. Dr. Benbenek was employed 20 years with RCA as their Vice President at the David Sarnoff Research Center in Princeton. His projects included television and MRI development, the PIROS Satellite, lunar and other space shots as well as submarine ballistic missile development. He was also Director of Applied Technologies with Kokes Marine Technologies, LLC. He served many years as a governmental technical consultant for NASA and other agencies. He was appointed by former governor Christine Todd Whitman to the N.J. State Commission on Aging. Dr. Jules E. Benbenek holds Masters Degrees in Chemistry, Communication and Nuclear Physics as well as Doctorate Degrees in Physics. He was an alumnus of Princeton and Harvard Universities. He is a life member of IEEE, American Chemical Society and the American Optical Society. He served in the U.S. Army as an officer during World War II. He was a longtime member of the Kiwanis Club of Lawrenceville, and other charitable organizations. He was a communicant of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Whiting.

Dr. Benbenek was predeceased by his first wife, Caroline and his second wife, Christine; his two brothers, Frank and Thomas and his sister-in-law, Anna Pietras Benbenek. He is survived by his niece, Virginia Benbenek Schlegel and her husband, John and his grandniece, Victoria Ann Schlegel.

A Memorial Mass will be offered at the All Saints Chapel of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 30 Schoolhouse Road, Whiting, NJ. Interment will follow at the chapel.
