Jesse James Starrett

Dowagiac – Jesse James Starrett, 69, of 206 Grand Blvd., died Monday afternoon in Lee Memorial Hospital after years' illness. He was born May 25, 1899 in Bourbon, Ind.

On May 25, 1943 he was married in Cassopolis to Edith Fellner, who survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Ernest Carpenter of Dowagiac, a son, Kenneth of Coldwater; six stepsons, James Diamond of Hobart, Ind., Robert Diamond, of Lodi, N.J., Albert, Richard and Glen Diamond, all of Dowagiac, and Gene Alexis of Dowagiac; 25 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

Friends may call after 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Lyon Funeral Home. Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. He was a retired truck driver for the Round Oak Furnace Co.
