Mark Leonard Coach Tillman, 52, passed away on Thursday, January 31, 2013. He was born January 23, 1961 in Queens, NY to the late Frankie & Ann Tillman.
Mark had lived most of his life in Jacksonville, was a graduate of Edward H. White High School class of 1979, graduated Western Carolina University in 1984 and served in the U.S. Marine Corps for 8 years. He served as head J.V. and Assistant football coach at First Coast High School. The football team was undefeated for 2 years under his leadership. Mark earned the Principals Star Teacher award, Honorary Coach at War of the Boarders. He was a recipient of a liver transplant in December 2010 and was an inspiration to the students of FCHS and responsible for enrolling 1,183 organ donors.
Mark was Baptist by faith, was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and will be dearly missed by all who knew him. He was very well loved, an inspirational teacher and respected by all of his students.
Survivors include his wife of 14 years, Jennifer; sons, Christopher Tillman of GA, Dakota Tillman of TN; daughter in law, Allison Mills of GA; brother, Wesley Tillman (Teresa) of Jacksonville; sisters, Donna Pilling (Tom) of Melrose, FL, Diane Rahn (Bobby) of Fleming Island, FL; grandchildren, Gentry Tillman, Aiden Mills; mother and father in law, Dominick & Sandy Coniglione of Trinity, FL; sister in law, Stephanie Jackson of Moon Lake, FL and a host of other relatives and friends.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, February 9 at 1PM at North Jacksonville Baptist Church, 8531 North Main Street, Jacksonville, 32218, with Pastor Tom Almond officiating. Interment of cremains will be at the Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Road, Jacksonville, on Monday, February 11 at 9AM with Marty Lee officiating. The family will receive friends at Cedar Bay Funeral Home, 405 New Berlin Road, Jacksonville, on Friday evening, February 8 from 6-8PM.
