Obituary

Arthur F. Metz, 90, of Yankton died Wednesday at Rock Rapids, Iowa, Health Center after a lingering illness. His funeral will be Saturday at 10:30 A.M. in Ray Funeral Chapel with the Rev. John Bell and Steven Las brook, licentiate, United Church of Christ Congregational officiating. Interment will be in Yankton Cemetery. The body will be lie in state at Ray Funeral Chapel Friday at 2 P.M.

He was born Jan. 26, 1888, in Tekamah, Neb., to Samuel Clinton and Pearl May Barker Metz. He married Christina E. Engle Dec. 2l4, 1908, at Yankton and she died in 1961. Mr. Metz spent his early years living in the Homer-Tekamah area and his later years the Yankton area. He last worked for Yaggie Mils, Yankton.

Survivors include five daughters; Mrs. Loren (Agnes) Oliver, Yankton; Mrs. Kenneth (Christine) Cook, Volin; Mrs. Elmer (Katherine) Olson, Tucson, Ariz.; Dorothy Metz, Yankton and Mrs. David (Virginia) Brinkman, Sioux Falls; six sons, Vern of Mission Hill, George of Santa Anna, Calif., Donald of Anchorage, Alaska, Joseph of Long Beach, Calif., Ernest of Yankton and Laurence of Brandon. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and a son.
