Austin Mayberry Brown Jr, known to his family and friends as “Junior” or “Mike”, 71, of Renick passed away Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville, VA.Born October 4, 1941 at Spring Creek he was the son of the late Austin Mayberry Brown and Dorothy Cochran Brown.Other than his parents, Austin was preceded in death by sisters, Geraldine Hightower, and Minnie Lewis; brothers, Edsel Carl Brown, Claude Harrison Brown, and infant baby Brown; and his father-in-law, Finley Dee Bowling.Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Fronie Mae Bowling Brown; his children, Ruth Ann Kanasky and husband, Joel of Suffern, N.Y., Shannon McMillan and husband, David of Renick, Austin Mayberry Brown IV and wife, Roberta of Spotsylvania, VA, Melissia Dee Bennett and husband, David of Rainelle, and Tabbithia Kay Weaver and husband, Jonathan of Mitchells, VA; eleven grandchildren and three great grandchildren; sisters, Velma Clevenger, Gladys Hefner and husband, Jim, and Mary Altizer; a brother, Edward Issac “Ike” Brown and wife, Judy; mother-in-law, Ruth Bowling of Amherst, VA; sister-in-law, Kay Brown; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bill Bowling and wife, Brenda of Dumfries, VA; sister-in-law, Lecy Duff and husband, Nelson of Alexandria, VA; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Saturday Jan. 26 at the Enon Baptist Church on Vago Road-Frankford with Pastor Steve Barnette officiating. Burial will follow in Morningside Cemetery at Renick.
