Anne M. Calderone passed away Sunday, February 3, 2013 at home after a short illness. She was born to Domenico and Priscilla Apice in Newark, NJ on April 18, 1932. She resided in Newark until moving to Toms River, NJ in the 1960s. A member of Toms River Seventh-day Adventist Church since 1980, Anne was a woman who walked in faith of the risen Jesus Christ, our Creator, Redeemer and Savior. Anne served the church in many capacities, including deaconess, bulletin editor, floral coordinator and especially the Thanksgiving program, whereby she prepared baskets of holiday food for the needy and lonely. Anne always was cognizant of someone that was distressed and destitute and would offer compassion and financial help. Anne was number seven in a family of eight children. She was of excellent character and integrity, positively affected the lives of many people through her unselfish acts of compassion and generosity and was greatly admired and respected. Anne was always encouraging people that were discouraged and downcast, uplifting them in sharing the love of Christ Jesus, for them, personally. She will be missed greatly by family, friends and the community. Anne worked for the Toms River-Ocean County Chamber of Commerce for many years as assistant bookkeeper and events organizer. She had a gift that enabled her to interact with people of all professions, encouraging them to be involved with chamber programs for business purposes, as well as a benefit to the whole community. Anne's first program with the Chamber was as Information Specialist at the Satellite Information Center on the Barrier Islands, co-sponsored by the County of Ocean and the Borough of Seaside Heights. Prior to the Chamber of Commerce, Anne worked for Hayne & Company, a major department store, as a claim agent in the receiving department. She worked for many years as the Assistant Circulation Manager at the Ocean County Reporter, followed by over 15 years service in the Chaplain's office at the Lakehurst Naval Air Engineering Center, now knows as McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst Joint Base in Lakehurst, NJ. She was secretary to several chaplains forming permanent relationships with them and their families to the present time and was program director for the original Thanksgiving Program at the base, preparing over 250 baskets for the needy with her personal love and care.

Anne was predeceased by her husband Paul, her parents Domenico and Priscilla Apice and sister Paula Petronella. She is survived by her devoted son Domenick and his wife Sherry of Okeechobee, Florida, sisters Angela Scro, Antoinette Freda, Yolanda Candore, Dolores Lobada, brother Angelo Apice, sister Lucy Greene and many nephews and nieces: Charlotte and Richard, Priscilla and Susan, Michael, Joseph and Robert, Rosemarie, Raymond and Ronald, Christopher and Robert, and all their spouses and many cousins.

Viewing will take place at the Carmona Bolen for Funerals at 412 Main Street, Toms River, NJ with a service. A funeral service will take place at the funeral home. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Toms River, NJ.
