Wilbur Dalzell, dead at age 82
Wilbur J Dalzell, 82 of Bethany Home, formerly of 2165 Morningview Drive, died at 7:55 p.m. Friday at Finley Hospital.
His wife the former Mary Heller, died Jan. 22, 1967
Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Egelhof-Casper-Strueber Funeral Home, 1145 Locust St. where friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery.
Mr. Dalzell was born in Dartown, Ohio. He was a physics and math professor, football, track, wrestling, and cross country coach at Dubuque Senior High School, until his retirement 15 years ago. Dalzell Field at the school was named for him.
He was a member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church, Mystic Circle Lodge 685 of Lawrence, Ind. and High Twelve of the Masonic Order, and the Elks Club. He was a 50 year member of Dubuque Chapter 3 of the Royal Arch Masons, and a 50 year member of Dubuque Council 3 of the Royal & Select Masters.
Surviving are two sons, Frederic S of San Diego and Donald R of Washington, D.C., and four grandchildren.
