Selma - Chester M. Abbott, age 80, of Selma died on Wednesday, January 30, 2013. Born in Johnston County on September 26, 2932, he was the son of the late Barney and Lucy Evans Abbott.

He was preceded in death by a son, Chester Abbott, Jr. and a step-son,. Larry Neal Bedford.

Mr. Abbott was a member of Old Beulah Primitive Baptist Church and a US Army veteran.

Funeral services will be held Sunday at 3:00 PM in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home in Selma with burial following in the Old Beulah Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 2 - 3 PM.

Surviving are his wife, Agnes B. Abbott; daughter Norma J. Abbott and husband James Jernigan of Sanford; step-sons, John Bedford and wife Connie of Selma, Ricky Bedford and wife Lora of Smithfield; brothers, Robert "Bob" Abbott of Selma nd Clarence Abbott of Tarboro; sister, Esther Anderson of Zebulon; three grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; and six step-great grandchildren.
