Jane was born and raised in Durham in the Oak Grove Community and graduated from Oak Grove School. She was a faithful member of Fletcher's Chapel United Methodist Church for her entire life, where she was a member of the Genesis Sunday School Class and the Faith Wanda Circle. She was also a member of the Eastern Star, the Triangle Shrine Club Shrinettes, and the Oak Grove Ruritan Club. She worked for many years as a receptionist for the family business, Vaughan Electric Company.
Jane is survived by her devoted husband of 60 years, Sam Vaughan Jr.; and her children, daughter, Vickie Davis, and husband, Jerry; son, Sam III (Chip), and wife, Gloria of Durham, Kayla Perry and husband, Richard (Rich), of Raleigh. She is also survived by six loving grandchildren, Jared and Jenna Davis, Sam IV (Chad) and Lauren Vaughan, and Vaughan and Kaylee Perry. In addition, she is survived by two brothers, Bernie and Donald Glenn.
A special thank you to her loving caretaker, Barbara Taylor, and her very special friend, Tony Cannady, for their devotion and love through the years.
A funeral service will be held on Friday at 2 p.m. at Fletcher's Chapel United Methodist Church. The Rev. Jack Ruth, the Rev. Darren Hickerson and the Rev. Ray Gooch will officiate. Burial will be in Fletcher's Chapel UMC Cemetery.
