Nicole M. Kirby, age 29, St. Cloud, MN died Thursday, October 11, 2007 unexpectedly at her home of natural causes.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, October 17, 2007 at 11:00 AM at Peace United Church of Christ, St. Cloud, MN. Visitation will be Tuesday, October 16, 2007 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Benson Funeral Home, St. Cloud, MN. and one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. Burial will be on Thursday October 18, 2007 at 10:00 AM in Lakeside Cemetery, Hastings, MN.
Nicole Kirby was born August 25, 1978 in Edison, NJ to Joseph R. Jr. and Denise M. (Renda) Kirby. She is a 1997 graduate of Park High School, Cottage Grove. Nicole graduated from Hamline University, St. Paul in 2002 with a degree in Anthropology, and from Andover Newton Theological School, Newton Center, MA with a Masters in Divinity on May 19, 2007.
Nicole worked as a Chaplain for the Department of Veterans Affairs, currently based in San Antonio, TX. Nicole enjoyed traveling and meeting people; she was always willing to lend a hand, becoming involved in volunteering at a young age. She was an avid reader and especially loved topics of history, fine arts, politics, and religion and enjoyed political or religious debate.
Nicole is survived by her parents, Joe and Denise Kirby of Cottage Grove, MN; sister and brother, Brandy Kirby of Apple Valley, MN, and Joe Kirby of St. Paul, MN; three nieces Megan, Cheyenne, and Paige Kirby of Apple Valley, MN; grandmother, Mary Kirby of Manchester Center, VT, and uncles Dave Renda of Milltown, NJ, and Kenneth Kirby of Daytona FL.
She is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Peter and Dorothy Renda, paternal grandfather, Joseph Kirby Sr. and one uncle Steven Renda.
