Barbara A. Beckmann, 71, of Sun Lakes, AZ, was born to Raymond and Hildegard (Pohl) Ruh in Sheboygan, WI, on December 7, 1941. She passed away at Chandler Regional Hospital, Chandler, AZ, following colon surgery on Friday, January 25, 2013.

Barbara attended Kiel Public Schools and graduated in 1960. She attended Dr. Martin Lutheran College, New Ulm, MN and after completing the emergency teaching course in 1961, accepted a call to teach at Our Savior's Lutheran School in Bylas, AZ.

On June 23, 1962, she and Eugene Beckmann were married at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church, Kiel, WI. Following their marriage they resided in Baltimore, MD until Eugene completed his military service. They returned to Kiel until 1997, then moved to Sun Lakes, AZ.

During their years of marriage Barbara worked at Willowdale Nursing Home, New Holstein; Household Utilities, Inc. (HUI), Kiel; and did some home care.

She was also very active in her church choir, Sunday School, Ladies' Aid, Ladies' Guild, LWMS, Friendship Circle, WELS Life Witness, church librarian and ALPHA Hotliner Her hobbies included knitting, crocheting, counted cross-stitch, painting and reading.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Eugene; her children, Dwayne (Brenda) Beckmann and their children, Brittany and Ramsey, Kiel; Dawn (Gregory) Rush and their children, Ryan, Daniel, Nathan and Maria, Benton Harbor, MI; Dean Beckmann, New Holstein; and Dwight Beckmann and son, Sage, Plymouth. She is further survived by her brother Richard (Dick) Ruh, New Holstein; brother- in-law and sister-in-law, Orv and Fran Beckmann, Kiel; one aunt Dolores Pohl, Sheboygan; nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, parents- in-law, uncles and aunts.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 2, 2013, at Calvary Ev. Lutheran Church, Chandler, AZ. Burial will be in the Kiel Cemetery at a later date.
