Born William Frederick Stewart but always called Billy. Left behind wife, Joni Stiddom Stewart; daughter, Mackenzie L. Stewart, and unborn child due 8/23/05(child was a boy, Ethan W. Ray Stewart) of Morehead, KY; mother, Mary Ann White of Clearfield, KY; brothers, Tom Stewart & Scott Stewart, of Clearfield, KY & Leon Stewart, of Morehead, KY; grandmother Margaret Stewart of Ironton, Ohio. Preceeded in death by his father, Frederick C. Stewart; grandparents, Frederick D. Stewart, Billy Gene & Virgie Poe, James & Wanda Fugett.
Billy was a volunteer fireman for the Halderman/Hayes Crossing Volenteer Fire Department of Morehead, Kentucky. He spent many hours with his mentally handicapped brothers and taught them things I never dreamed they could learn. He loved football and played in high school. He also enjoyed car races.
Billy was a son that any mother could be proud of...he overcame so many chalenges in his 27 years on this earth. In 1992 he and his brother Tom were in a car accident that took their father's life. I was told Billy wouldn't make it through the night and if he did he would be a vegetable. We prayed and had him on prayer lists all over the country...he was back in school for 1/2 a day 29 days later!! Not that the road was easy, but he stuck with it until each skill was re-learned. His brother, Tom and his Papaw Poe were so patient and helped him learn things a mom could never know how to teach.
Billy had a good job and a budding career when God called him home. I will forever be gratefull to God for giving me a son who touched so many hearts. And without my son Tom and my Dad, Billy Gene Poe (who passed on in 1999) I could have never made it through such a difficult time. I now rely on God for my strength and courage to face each day without my Billy. PLEASE CLICK ON THE PICTURES FOR MORE BIO...
They said Billy went from sleep, into unconciousness, into a coma, then I guess into death. The rug under his feet was not disturbed. He sat on the end of the bed & and laid straight back. That is the way he was found the next day. He had had a headache for about 10 days. It wasn't uncommon for him to have a headache for days, ever since the accident in '92, but they had never lasted that long. He came over here and visited for a while and I could tell he wasn't feeling well. Scott had stayed all night with Billy the night before & Billy wanted him to stay again because his wife was staying the night with her grandma. They were going to play video games all night. Scott said Billy's headache got worse about 1:00a.m and he told Scott he would be back after his headache eased down some. Scott fell asleep but couldn't remember what time. Joni found Billy about 10:00 the next morning. It was Saturday, January 22, 2005. They said he had died about 4:00 a.m. according to his body temperature. He was 27 years old and he died of an aneurysm. A leak started about 10 days before he died. It could have been fixed. I could have talked him into going to the hospital, but I thought it was just one of his headaches. We even talked about it hurting so long. I told him he was under so much stress because he was laid off, his wife was pregnant, his little girl was getting ready to have her first birthday and money was tight. I should have said well, why don't we go have it checked out and they could have found it before it exploded and killed him, but I didn't. I could still have my son & his kids could have a dad, but I didn't take him to the hospital...I thought it was just stress. I don't know anything- why in God's name do I tell anybody anything?? I killed my son just as surely as if I would have put a gun to his head and pulled the trigger.
