KINGSPORT — William (Bill) Montgomery, 61, died at 12:40 a.m. Monday (Aug. 30, 1999) at Holston Valley Hospital and Medical Center.

A lifelong resident of Kingsport, he was a graduate of Lynn View High School and served with the U.S.Army during 1961 and 1962.

He also served in the 639th Transportation Company of the U.S. Army Reserves for seven years.

Mr. Montgomery was employed with Eastman Chemical Company for 33 years retiring as a control operator in the A.Y. Division in 1998.

He was preceded in death by his father, W.E.Montgomery Sr.

Surviving are his wife, Pauline Blevins Montgomery, Kingsport; two sons and daughters-in-law, Greg and Michele Montgomery, Canton, Ga., Chad and Rebecca Montgomery, Church Hill; two grandchildren, Ryan and Megan Montgomery;
mother, Mildred Montgomery, Kingsport; one sister, Wanda Montgomery, Kingsport; one brother and sister-in-law, Wayne and Jeanette Montgomery, Taylor, S.C.; several nieces and nephews.

Services were conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home chapel with Mr. George Trent officiating.

Burial followed at the Tri-Cities Memory Gardens with military graveside rites by American Legion Hammond Post No. 3.

Pallbearers were family members and friends.
