RICHMOND - Fred C. Abbott, 81, a retired attorney and former assistant collector
of internal revenue for Virginia, died Friday in a Richmond nursing home.
Abbott, a Culpeper County native, practiced law in Norfolk more than 20 years
before coming to Richmond in 1936 to take the revenue post.
In Norfolk he was commissioner in chancery for Circuit Court and Court of Law
and Chancery.
Abbott held several posts in civic and fraternal organizations.
Survivors include the widow, a son, a brother and a sister.
After a funeral service in Richmond Sunday at 1 p.m. the body will be brought to
Norfolk for burial in Elmwood Cemetery Sunday at 4:30 p.m.
