Services for Eunice Cates Rivers, 73, of 542 Aderhodt Mill Road will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at K.L. Brown Funeral Home and Crematory with Rev. Ray Crump officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.
Mrs. Rivers died Tuesday at Regional Medical Center.
Survivors include two daughters, Elizabeth Bice of Jacksonville and Mary Landon Rivers of Huntsville; three sons, John L. Rivers Jr. of Rantoul, Ill., Edward H. Rivers of Rome, Ga. and Henry P. Rivers of Albany, Ga.; three sisters, Ruby Bridges of Saks and Louise Clark and Mary Poe, both of Weaver; a brother, Norman W. Cates of Weaver; 10 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Steve Bridges, Roy Clark, Thomas Rivers, Mike Poe, Raymond Ayers and Kenneth Bice. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Builders Sunday School Class of First United Methodist Church of Weaver.
Mrs. Rivers was a native and lifelong resident of Calhoun County. She was retired from Regional Medical Center after 37 years of service and was a member of First United Methodist Church of Weaver. She was preceded in death by her husband, John L. Rivers; and two brothers, John Cates and Bill Cates. Published in the Anniston Star (AL) on Wednesday, August 1, 2001.
