Funeral services for B.J. Huigens, Creighton real estate and insurance agent for many years, were conducted Tuesday morning, Dec. 15 at St. Ludger Catholic Church. The Rev. Paul Schneider, pastor, officiated at the solemn high mass, assisted by the Rev. Lawrence Dorsey, assistant pastor and the Rev. Michael Printy of Omaha. Burial was in St. Ludger Cemetery.
Mr. Huigens died Dec. 13 at the local hospital following a short illness.
Bernard Joseph Huigens was born to John and Mary Huigens on Dec. 29, 1884 at Creighton. He married Jeanette Watteyne in February 1909. She died in February 1948. In June 1949 he married Mrs. Elizabeth Neyens, who survives.
Mr. Huigens was a member of the Knights of Columbus and Creighton Chamber of Commerce.
Besides his widow, he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Grace Harmon of Omaha and Mrs. Paul (Dorothy) Naprstek of Creighton; three sons, Bernard J. Huigens Jr. of Sioux Falls, S.D., John P. Huigens of Pittsburgh, Pa. and Robert W. Huigens of Scottsdale, Ariz., 19 grandchildren; one great granddaughter; two brothers, Edward of Creighton and four sisters, Mrs. Anna C. Huigens, Mrs. Edward Mattern and Mrs. Ernest Tharnish of Creighton and Mrs. Ivan King of Beemer.
His parents and a brother, J.A. Huigens preceded him in death.
