William H. Radaker, 88, of Clarion RD 2, died unexpectedly at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2002, in his home. Born March 9, 1913, in Fairmount City, he was the son of William A. and Myrtle M. Bish Radaker.

Mr. Radaker retired in 1976 from the United Mine Workers Union where he was a dragline operator and heavy equipment operator for a number of coal companies. He was a member and past president of the United Mine Workers. Mr. Radaker also was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church, Clarion, and the Knights of St. George.

He was married March 29, 1937, to Helen C. Dougherty, who preceded him in death. Surviving are eight sons, Thomas W. Radaker of Sligo, Daniel L. Radaker of McKeesport, Joseph Radaker of Butler, Ronald Radaker of Sligo, Kenneth Radaker of Goldsboro, N.C., Michael R. Radaker of Rimersburg, Jeffery Radaker of Clarion and Patrick Radaker of Knox; six daughters, Joyce Wolbert of Knox, Janet Greenawalt of Sligo, H. Jeanne Snyder of Clarion, Jacqueline Wesner of Rochester, N.Y., M. JoAnn Weckerly of Venus and Judith Eads of Albany, N.Y.; 39 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.

He also is survived by two sisters, Lottie Miller and Grace Huffman, both of Ashtabula, Ohio. In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Radaker was preceded in death by four sisters, Minnie Radaker, Dorothy Radaker, Florence Radaker and Blanch Hartzell; and one granddaughter, LaVerne Mary Radaker.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the Robert V. Burns Funeral Home, Clarion. A Christian wake service will be held at 8:30 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Immaculate Conception Church with Msgr. Joseph Riccardo, pastor, presiding. Interment will be in Cedarview Cemetery near Strattanville.
