Mr. Lankford was born February 25, 1934 in Bluff, NC. His family moved to Newport News, VA, where he earned and Eagle Scout award as a teen-ager. He joined the US Army in 1948 and served 20 years. Mr. Lankford served in the Korean Conflict and also in Vietnam. After his service in the US Army he was a business owner in Richmond, VA. Upon his retirement he moved to Hot Springs.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Verne and Serena Reed Lankford; four sisters and two brothers which included Caroline Lankford Staude, Verna Kushinsky and Winston Lankford.
Surviving are several nieces and nephews; and great nieces and nephews.
A memorial graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, December 1, 2012 in Fairview United Methodist Church Cemetery with Reverend Gene Linton officiating
